Pran Havana: Comfy Getaway Benefits From a Splendid Setting | ||||
UPDATE : 21 June 2010 | ||||
Since the turn of the century, Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Pranburi district has transformed itself from being a sleepy coastal village into a popular vacation destination thanks to its serene ambiance and excellent beach. While it was once rather overshadowed by the draw of its more populous neighbor - Hua Hin - Pranburi has achieved a good deal of success in developing its own unique identity over recent years. Located right next to Pranburi Beach, Pran Havana is a comfortable 10-room resort hotel, featuring contemporary-style architectural features and decorative styles. Each room features a floral theme - Burgundy, Cha-Ba (‘Pink Hibiscus‘), Dong Dueng (‘Glory Lily‘), Donya (‘Pink Mussaenda 'Queen Sirikit'), Jasmine, Lotus, Orchid and Rose. The receptionist greeted me with a broad smile and a welcome drink before personally guiding me to my room. Such dedication to service and warm hospitality ensured that I quickly felt right at home at Pran Havana. Located on the third floor, the Cha-Ba-themed room (2,800 baht [US$86] per night) boasts a breathtaking view of the beach, the ocean and the surrounding landscaped gardens. The sizable veranda even includes a basic barbecue area for guests who fancy a meal straight from the grill. I must admit that I spent the majority of the daytime during my three-day, two-night stay at the hotel shuttling from my room to the beach. It should be noted that the sunrises here provide a particularly awe-inspiring start to the day. Since Pranburi has become better known, it has also grown in stature as a weekend escape for residents of the capital, so if you really want to ‘get away from it all’, clearly a weekday visit would best service your requirements. Splendid Service I was also very impressed by the standard of service at Pran Havana. One evening I fancied grilled chicken and somtam (‘spicy papaya salad’) and since it wasn’t available ‘in house’ a member of staff kindly went out to purchase some for me from a stall located nearby. For further information, or to make a reservation, contact Tel: +66 (0)81 820 8333, or +66 (0)32 570 077, or visit the official website at http://www.pranhavana.net. Transport Connections: Car: From Bangkok, take Highway 4 (Phetkasem Road) and follow the signs for Hua Hin. Continue along Highway 4 until you reach the Pranburi intersection and then turn left into Pranburi-Paknam Pran Road. Continue along this road for about 10 kilometers and then take the next turn on your right once you see the temple of Wat Nahuay. Follow this road for about 5 km until you arrive to Naresuan Beach, where you should turn left. You'll see the hotel on your right. |
