- SRETSIS may not have joined Bangkok Fashion Society's press preview earlier last week, but that doesn't mean the three sisters are not ready to unveil their latest spring/summer outings. The new collection, ''Make My Heart Melt'', inspired by the sparkling-eyed girls, fragile petals and ultra-delicate lines of manga artist Macoto Takahashi (the supreme creator of those gorgeous drawings on crayon boxes and vintage paper dolls). It's pretty much an antithesis of the ''Heart'' collection that shot the brand into the spotlight during Elle Fashion Week in 2003. Back then, the heart and love concept had become a cliche as Sretsis teased with overused heart shapes and the idea of love.

This time, however, Pimdao mourns the loss of pure and innocent love, identified most probably with Takahashi's doe-eyed, lovelorn girls that resurrect the sweetness and sourness of love in a series of outfits in pastels, baby blue, salmon pink, white and gold colours. Girlish motifs such as frills and ruffles remain prevalent, and so do sweetheart necklines and peplums. The collection is complemented by limited edition sunglasses, a collaboration between Pimdao and every celebrity's favourite French eyewear giant Thierry Lasry.

Now perhaps it's not only the heart but also our money that will be melted by Sretsis this summer.

- REALISTIC SITUATION's

Patsarun Sriluansoi is no stranger to the long-standing traditional football matches between Thailand's two Ivy League competitors Thammasat and Chulalongkorn University. After years of being the commissioned designer of outfits for Chulalongkorn University's cheerleaders, he has switched to the Tha Phra Chan campus this year, mixing his avant-garde vibes with the university's bold attitude, resulting in two sets of costumes that will leave the screaming students on the bleachers in awe. The day outfit boasts newspaper prints on the entire outfit (leggings included), while the tuxedo-inspired evening costume sees Thammasat University's red-yellow colour scheme being reinterpreted in gold and copper glitter on the entire back of the black outfit.
''I also had in mind the effect this front-back colour pattern could achieve when the cheerleaders are doing their moves,'' said the designer.
