What is it? Poo mah neung, or steamed blue swimmer crab (Portunus pelagicus).
What's it like? Fresh, firm and sweet tasting blue swimmer crab steamed just right - you can enjoy straight on its own or with some lime. The Thai style dipping sauce is sour, sweet, salty and hot - in that order, but it is on the sweet side of good and not perfect.
Where is it? Salukkork Seafood in the middle of Salak Khok fishermen's village on the east side of Koh Chang.
Parking? For about 10 cars shared with a kayak rental shop 50 metres in front of the restaurant.
Notes: According to a senior villager, this village supplies most of the crab on Koh Chang - what could be better than dining at the source? It is right in the middle of the island's only fishermen's village, so from the dining table you have 180 degree view of the docked boats on the nearside and mangrove forest on the other. The next most down-to-earth atmosphere to eating inside a villager's house.
